Pelagie Islands

The archipelago of the Pelagie Islands is composed by Lampedusa and Linosa, which belong to the province of Agrigento. It’s possible to reach them by sea from Porto Empedocle or via plane from main Italian airports, with direct connection to Lampedusa. The Island of Lampedusa is the inhabited core most south of Italy; it’s even more south than Tunisia and Algeria, closer to Malta being only 115 km away, instead the Sicilian coast is 250 km distant. The aspect and climate of the island is typically African Mediterranean and is famous in the entire world for its splendid “conigli” beach and the crystalline and turquoise colour of its sea.
